Locações de Bruxólico
Bruxólico, o videogame + livro ilustrado, é inpsirado no folclore, lendas, e artistas como Franklin Cascaes, Peninha, e meus pais, todos daqui da cidade de Florianópolis, onde nasci e vivo desde então. Não poderia ser diferente que as locações, os cenários da história, se passarem aqui, em lugares que conheço, bairros e praias onde cresci, trilhas por onde eu e a Ju já caminhamos. For Bruxólico, the game + book, I took inspirations from tales, folklore, and artists Such Franklin Cascaes, Peninha, and my own parents, all from Florianópolis, the city where I had born and live. So the backgrounds, locations, scenarios, are all from here. Places that I visited or lived for some time whe young, and still live in, like Red River neighborhood.

Florianópolis: antes chamada de Desterro, Ilha de Santa Catarina, ou ainda Meiembipe pelos povos originários que aqui viveram antes dos portugueses. É aqui que eu vivo, e também onde se passa toda a narrativa de Bruxólico. Uma ilha... a cada dia mais problemática e caótica.
Florianópolis: formerly known as Desterro, Santa Catarina Island, or even Meiembipe by the indigenous people who lived here before the Portuguese. This is where I live, and it's also where the entire narrative of Bruxólico takes place. An island... every day becoming increasingly chaotic.

Praia do Pântano do Sul: um dos bairros ao sul da ilha onde morei quando criança. Andei muito e bicicleta pelas ruas e praia daqui. É onde está localizado o famigerado poço sem fundo da história de Bruxólico, e é nas areias de sua praia que o Boi-Fantasma enfrenta o primeiro General Bruxólico.
Pântano do Sul Beach: one of the neighborhoods in the south of the island where I lived as a child. I spent a lot of time walking and biking through the streets and beaches here. This is where the well of the story is located, and on its sands is where the Ghost-Ox faces the first Witchlish General.

Sertão do Ribeirão: a maior parte da ilha tem cadeias de morros que separam as praias e bairros do lado leste, virados para o oceano Atlântico, e o lado oeste, com vista para o continente. O Sertão do Ribeirão é uma antiga vila que fica no alto dos morros que dividem o Sul da Ilha.
Sertão do Ribeirão: most of the island has chains of hills that separate the beaches and neighborhoods on the east side, facing the Atlantic Ocean, from the west side, with a view of the mainland. Sertão do Ribeirão is an old village located on top of the hills that divide the South of the Island.

Lagoa do Peri: onde o Boi Fantasma enfrenta o Segundo General Bruxólico. Tem diferentes lendas a respeito da Lagoa, mas no jogo e livro ilustrado coloquei uma que o Peninha contou a mim e o Luiz Souza quando o entrevistávamos para a revista Anacronia Nº1. Comprando o jogo, ou mesmo baixando a demo gratuíta, você consegue jogar e ouvir a narração desta lenda.
Lagoa do Peri (Peri's Lagoon): where the Ghost-Ox faces the Second Witchlish General. There are different legends about the Lagoon, but in the game and illustrated book, I decided to included one that Peninha told to me and Luiz Souza when we interviewed him for Anacronia Magazine No. 1. By purchasing the game, or even downloading the free demo, you can play and listen to the narration of this legend.

Praia e trilha do Gravatá: depois de viajar pelo mar sobre um sirí e tainhas o Boi-Fantasma chega até esta pequena praia que só é acessivel por uma caminhada subindo e decendo o morro por uma trilha. Em uma das fotos temos a vista que se tem do Gravatá pela Praia Mole, onde a ponta do costão se parece com a cabeça de um Dragão, não a toa um dos chefões do jogo.
Gravatá Beach and trail: after traveling through the sea on a crab and mullets, the Ghost-Ox arrives at this small beach that is only accessible by hiking up and down the hill along the trail. In one of the photos, you can see the view of Gravatá from Praia Mole, where the tip of the rocky cliff resembles the head of a Dragon, fittingly one of the bosses in the game.

Lagoa da Conceição: cartão postal que é também o reduto de restaurantes e boemia na cidade, boa parte na Avenida das Rendeiras. Ali um dia exixtiu o Undergorund Rock Bar, ondeno comecinho dos anos 2000 jovens suburbanos e meio desajustados iam pra ouvir bandas de rock de garagem, incluso eu e meus amigos. É ali na frente que o Boi-Fantasma enfrenta o Terceiro General Bruxólico do Apocalipse Ilhéu.
Lagoa da Conceição: a postcard-worthy spot that is also a hub of restaurants and nightlife in the city, most ot it on Rendeiras Avenue. There used to be the Underground Rock Bar, where in the early 2000s suburban and somewhat misfit youngsters would go to listen to garage rock bands, including myself and my friends. It is there, in front of it, that the Ghost-Ox confronts the Third Witchlish General of the Island Apocalypse.

Trilha do Sertão do Assopro: começa ao lado do mirante da Lagoa da Conceição, ponto turístico que tem um estacionamento e vista para a maior lagoa da ilha. Depois a longa trilha (foi puxadinho pra mim e a Ju, saímos as 9h do Mirante e Chegamos na Costa da Lagoa as 17h) segue pelo alto das cadeias de morros que separam o lado leste do oeste já na porção norte da Ilha. Passa pela "Toca do Urubu", um conjunto de pequenas grutas onde encontramos restos de cama e outros utensílios, indicando que alguém pode dormir por ali. Não a toa inventei de ali ser a "casa" do vampiro em Bruxólico.
Sertão do Assopro Trail: it begins next to the Lagoa da Conceição viewpoint, a tourist spot that has a parking lot and a view of the largest lagoon on the island. Then, the long trail (it was tough for me and my wife, we left the viewpoint at 9 a.m. and arrived at the end, Lagoon's Coast, at 5 p.m.) follows along the top of the mountain ranges that separate the East from the West on the northern part of the island. We pass by the "Toca do Urubu", a set of small caves where you can find some remnants of a bed and other utensils indicating that someone might sleep there. It's no wonder why I made it the "home" of the vampire in the game.

Costa da Lagoa: um bairro onde você só chega de barco ou a pé pela trilha (essa bem tranquila e até pavimentada) que segue próxima da beira da lagoa. O Transporte de barcos tem horários constantes e tarifa com desconto para os moradores, funciona como transporte público para o local e tem va´rios pontos de parada parecidos com pontos de ônibus.
Costa da Lagoa: a neighborhood that can only be reached by boat or by foot along the trail (which is quite calm and even paved trail, and not by the hills), running close to the edge of the lagoon. Boat transportation has regular schedules and discounted fares for residents, functioning as public transportation to the area.

Parque Estadual do Rio Vermelho: fica no bairro onde construí a casa para morar com a Ju, um bairro de suburbio residencial. O parque é bonito e estranho, ao mesmo tempo que tem a restinga, uma longa faixa de dunas, uma parte com nascente e banhado, e tem essa longa faixa de pinheiros, de Pinus, que foi plantado durante o regime militar. Um deserto verde, espécie invasora que virou um problema pois sufoca a mata nativa, mas cria esse visual bruxólico de floresta desolada. É cortado por uma rodovia que liga os bairros da Barra da lagoa ao Rio Vermelho, e parece não ter mais fim durante as madrugadas. Cenário perfeito para o Boi Fantasma enfrentar o Quarto General Bruxólico, o Vampiro.
Rio Vermelho State Park (Red River Park): located in the neighborhood where I built my house to live with my wife, a residential suburb. The park is beautiful and strange at the same time. It has the "restinga" (native beach vegetation), a long strip of dunes, a section with springs and wetlands, and this long stretch of pine trees, which were planted during the military regime (60's and 70's). They call it a "green desert", cause its an invasive species of trees, not from here, that has become a problem as it suffocates the native forest. However, it creates this enchanting view of a desolate forest, intersected by a highway that seems endless at night. A perfect setting for the Ghost-Ox to confront the Wichlish Fourth General, the Vampire.

Praia Do Moçambique: depois do parque do rio vermelho fica a praia do moçambique, uma linda praia de mar grosso, se me lembro bem a mais longa faixa de areia contínua da ilha. Pouco movimentada, não só por ser grande, mas por que está dentro da área de proteção do parque, e não tem edificações, apenas um acesso por uma estrada de areia ou as trilhas que saem das ruas do bairro Rio Vermelho. As vezes a maresia da praia é tão densa que você não consegue ver o fim e o começo da faixa de areia, especialmetne na madrugada. Cenário bruxólico.
Moçambique Beach: found inside the Red River Park, it is a beautiful beach with rough seas. It's the longest continuous stretch of sand on the island. It's not very crowded, not only because it's large, but also because it's within the protected area of the park and has no buildings. You can only access it through a sandy road or the trails that lead from the streets of the Rio Vermelho neighborhood. Sometimes, the sea mist is so dense that you can't see the end and the beginning of the sandy strip, especially in the early morning. It's a witchlish scene.

O Morro da Cruz: é o topo do maciço de morros que dão no centro da cidade, e é onde stão as antenas de transmissão de TV. Ao seu redor temos vários morros e diferentes bairros. Muitos destas comunidades são favelas, smelhantes as do Rio de Janeiro. Ironico (ou não) que toda esta miséria fica ao redor dos marcos da grande mídia.
Morro da Cruz (The Hill of the Cross): It is the top of the hill massif that overlooks the city center, and it is where the TV transmission antennas are located. Surrounding it, we have several hills and different neighborhoods. Many of these communities are favelas (slums), similar to those in Rio de Janeiro. Ironically (or not), all this poverty surrounds the landmarks of the mainstream media.

A Figueira da praça XV: fica no centro histórico da cidade, é a arvore mais antiga da Praça XV de Novembro, principal da cidade praça que fica em frente a catedral metropolitana. Foi ai o cenário da famosa Novembrada. Na outra tela o Mercado Público da cidade, que hoje por conta do aterro ao redor do centro não fica mais a beira mar, como antigamente, quando os barcos atracavam no seu caes para descarregar as mercadorias.
The Fig tree in XV Square: located in the historic center of the city, the oldest part, with the oldest tree in the main square, in front of the metropolitan cathedral. On the other screen, the Public Market of the city, which today, due to urban landfill around the center, is no longer by the seaside as it used to be before the 70's when boats docked at its pier to unload goods.

As pontes e o parque de Coqueiros: ao fundo a Ponte Hercílio Luz, infame cartão postal por onde dizem que escoou muita grana superfaturada em sua eterna (por décadas) reforma. Era antigamente a Hercílio Luz que ligava a ilha ao continente, até a construção das outras duas pontes de contreto nos anos 70 e 80, que também não estão livres de escãndalos de corrupção e super faturamento. E no lado continentam o parque e bairro de Coqueiros, bairro de classe média.
The bridges and Coqueiros Park: in the background, the Hercílio Luz Bridge, in the past the only road that connected the island to the mainland until the construction of the other two concrete bridges in the 1970s and 1980s. On the mainland side, there's the park and the neighborhood of Coqueiros.

As Pedras de Itaguaçu: nome de origem Tupi-Guarani que significa "Pedra Grande", foi nesse bairro onde viveu o ainda jovem Franklin Cascaes. Daqui também sairam algumas das verdades inventadas pelo Peninha, como a de que certas ruínas eram da casa dos pais do Cascaes (que nada, disse ele que usou isso para forçar as instituições a darem importância ao Cascaes e o Lugar) e a história das bruxas transformadas em Pedra por Lucifer (vide a placa na foto) que ele contou como se fosse história antiga mas inventou na hora para se livrar de uma jornalista, nos contou ele em 2022 já debilitado da saúde. É aqui que o Boi-Fantasma enfrenta o último desafio do jogo.
The Itaguaçu Stones: it was in this neighborhood that the young Franklin Cascaes grew up. From here too some of the invented truths by Peninha emerged, such as the claim that certain ruins belonged to Cascaes' parents' house (which was not true, he said he used it to make institutions pay attention to Cascaes and the place) and the story of witches transformed into stones by Lucifer (as seen on the sign in the photo) that he told as if it were an ancient tale but made it up on the spot to get rid of a journalist, as he told us in the 2022 inverview and already weakened in health.
